Activate MitID

Before you can use your MitID app, code display, audio code reader or chip, you need to activate it. If you have created new password, it also needs to be activated. The process varies depending on what you are activating and whether you already have MitID or are in the process of creating it.

Activate MitID code display, audio code reader or chip by scanning your passport in the MitID app

  1. Download the MitID app from the App Store or Google Play, if you don't have it
  2. Open the app, press the menu at the top of the screen and then press Activate
  3. Choose Activate your MitID and then Next
  4. Choose Passport/ID card - and follow the steps in the MitID app

Have you received an activation code?

You can activate your MitID code display, audio code reader, chip or password by using the activation code you have received at Citizen Service.

You need:

  • The activation code
  • Your User ID

Activate MitID app

To use the MitID app, you must activate the app. You can activate the app by scanning your passport in the app or by copying the app from another phone or tablet where you have the MitID app. You can also use an activation code, you have received at a Citizen Service Center, to activate the app.
