Beware of scammers!

Right now, we are experiencing a rise in fraud attempts where someone calls you, pretending to be from the MitID Support. Ignore what you're being asked to do, never share your codes, and don't swipe in the MitID app for anything you didn't initiate yourself. The MitID Support will never make outgoing calls.

If you have been required to visit Citizen Service by MitID Support or your bank, please consider the following before the visit:

  • Find the location of the Citizen Service in the municipality you want to visit.
  • Check whether you need to book an appointment for your visit (most Citizen Services require that you book an appointment, so they can assist you correctly).
  • Remember valid documentation.
  • Answer a number of questions about yourself (based on the danish CPR-register) or bring a witnesser, who can confirm your identity.

What is a witnesser?
A witnesser is a person, who will visit the citizen service centre with you and confirm your identity. To be a witnesser, the person must be 18 years old or older and have had MitID for longer that 10 days. The witnesser must bring valid documentation (see below) and his/hers MitID. The person are allowed to be a witnesser for 3 persons within a 120 day period.

If you have experienced problems scanning your passport and need to visit Citizen Service for help, make sure to bring the necessary documentation with you. This includes documentation with your Danish CPR number if you need MitID for accessing most Danish self-service solutions or MitID Erhverv.

If you want to use MitID Erhverv, where you act digitally on behalf of a Danish organization, you can read more at mitid-erhverv.dk

In cases where MitID Support is required to change your information

From time to time, it may be necessary for MitID Support to correct your information for you on MitID.dk. To ensure that we are assisting the right person, you must be able to confirm your identity.

You can do this, for example, by providing either your passport or driver license number (valid Danish or Greenlandic or Faroese driver license or passport), when you call Support, and then answering a series of security questions.

Support ticket

Another way to identify yourself is by creating a support ticket. A support ticket is a six-digit code that is valid for 3 hours and is linked to your personal MitID. When you call MitID Support, you can identify yourself by providing the support ticket number, and then answering a series of security questions.

You can create a support ticket by either logging in to MitID.dk or by selecting 'Support ticket' in the menu of the MitID app.
