Copy your MitID app to another phone/tablet

If you have gotten a new phone/tablet or want to have MitID on multiple devices, you can copy your MitID from one phone/tablet to another by scanning a QR code in the MitID app. This way, you can easily activate your MitID app. It’s not enough just to download the MitID app — it must be activated before it can be used.

This page will guide you through how to copy your MitID from one phone/tablet to another.

Important before you start:

  • You will need both your old and new phone/tablet during the process. Have both ready before you begin. The guide will tell you when to switch between them.
  • Make sure your old phone/tablet and MitID app are updated, and that you have downloaded the MitID app on your new phone/tablet.
  • Be aware that once you start the copying process, you must wait 1 hour before you can continue. This waiting period is a security measure to help prevent misuse of MitID.
  • You can only have MitID on 3 different phones/tablets at the same time. If you already have MitID on 3 devices and want to add a new one, you must first block one of the devices you no longer plan to use. Note that it’s not enough just to uninstall the app on one of the devices. Read here how to block a MitID app.

Step by step - guide

Part 1: Start copying from your old phone/tablet

  1. Open the MitID app on your old phone/tablet.
