NemID is about to be closed

The transition from NemID to MitID is approaching its end. The NemID solution is gradually closing down until October 31st, 2023. Read what this means for you if you still use NemID.

Towards October 31st, 2023, NemID will continue with limited operation. Gradually, you can access fewer sites with your NemID. The limited operation means:

  • Between May 30th and June 30th, you can only get a new key card and temporary passwords at Citizen Service (Borgerservice).
  • After May 30th, citizens abroad cannot order a NemID for pick up at a Danish representation abroad.
  • On June 5th, you can no longer use NemID to migrate to MitID.
  • June 30th, the NemID support closes down.
  • After June 30th, issuing new NemID is not possible.

Use MitID from today

Over time, digital self-service solutions will cease to offer login with NemID. You need a MitID to have continued access to digital self-service solutions. You can get MitID in several ways, either by scanning your passport in the MitID app or by visiting Borgerservice. Read more at MitID.dk/get-started

For users of NemID for business

All companies, authorities and organisations that use NemID for business (Employee Signature), need to switch to MitID business before NemID for business closes.
