How to get MitID
Get MitID by entering MitID.dk/get-started.
Make sure to have:
- Your NemID – key card or app
- Access to SMS or e-mail.
In the process, you will need to:
- Pick a user ID. You will need it every time you need to use MitID, so make sure it is easy to remember for yourself – but difficult for others to guess.
- Decide how you want to use MitID. Just as with NemID, there are options. You can choose the MitID app, and there are alternatives if you do not wish to use an app.

Keep your NemID, even though you have MitID
The transition from NemID to MitID is gradual. You will need to use both your NemID and your MitID in the transition period. Therefore, you should keep your NemID app or key card – even though you already have MitID. You will be notified when you no longer need to use NemID.
