Block your MitID app

There may be several reasons why you want to block your MitID app. For example, you may have lost your phone or tablet, you already have three active apps and therefore cannot activate a new one, or you simply want to block an old app.

You can block a MitID app in five ways:

  1. In the MitID app
  2. On MitID.dk without logging in
  3. On MitID.dk after logging in
  4. By calling the MitID Support
  5. By visiting a Citizen Service Center (Borgerservice).

Note: Simply uninstalling the app is not enough — it will still count as active until you block it properly.

  • If you have lost or had your phone/tablet with the MitID app stolen, you should block your MitID app. This ensures that no one else can use your MitID app.
  • If you suspect that your MitID is being misused, you should block your entire MitID, not just the app. Blocking your MitID will disable all use of it. Read more here if you suspect your MitID is being misused.
  • If you want to use MitID on a new phone or tablet but already have three active apps, you must first block one of your existing MitID apps before you can activate a new one. You can only have three active MitID apps at a time.

Choose how you want to block your MitID app:

1) Block in the MitID app

Step by step guide

  1. Open the MitID app and tap the menu at the top of the screen.
  2. Tap App settings.
  3. Tap Users in the app.
  4. Tap Remove user.
  5. Select the user you want to remove from the app. Note: If there is only one user in the app and you remove them, the app will no longer be active and cannot be used for approvals.

2) Block on MitID.dk without logging in

Note: If you have multiple active apps, they will all be blocked. If you only want to block one app, use one of the other blocking methods instead.
