Mobile Number

If you have the MitID app, MitID sends notifications to your mobile number, e.g. if your app is blocked. When you activate a new MitID app, you must therefore always enter your mobile number. If you get a new mobile number, you must correct it in MitID app or on your MitID profile by logging on to MitID.dk.

If you cannot log on to MitID.dk, e.g. because you have got a new phone and no longer have your old phone with your MitID app on, the MitID Support or Citizen Service can help you change your mobile number.   

Please note that when you change your mobile number, five days will pass before you can change your mobile number again – and before the MitID Support and Citizen Service can send you a code to reactivate your MitID app id you have forgotten your PIN code.  

You can change your mobile number in the MitID app.

  1. Open the MitID app - and press the menu at the top of the screen
  2. Press Profile
  3. Press Change phone number
  4. On the screen 'Change mobile number' press Next
  5. Select user (if more than one user is using the app)
  6. Enter your PIN code or use fingerprint/Touch ID/Face ID
  7. Enter your new mobile number
  8. Press Next (and receive a SMS with a validation code)
  9. Enter the validation code from the SMS and press Next
  10. Your mobile number is changed, press OK

For security reasons, it takes 24 hours from the time you log in to your MitID profile and request access until you can edit your information. 

  1. Log on to MitID.dk  
  2. PressView under Contact information and notifications on the Profile page. 
  3. PressEdit mobile Number in the box "Contact information". 
  4. Press Request access. 
  5. Press Log out. 

Wait 24 hours - you get notified when you have access to edit 

  1. Log on to MitID.dk again 
  2. PressView under Contact information and notifications on the Profile page. 
  3. Press Edit mobile Number in the box "Contact information". 
  4. Enter your new mobile number and save. 

If you cannot log on to MitID, the MitID Support can change your mobile number for you. But first you have to identify yourself on the phone. You must state either your passport or driving license number (valid Danish or Greenlandic driving license or passport) and then answer a number of questions based on your information in the CPR register. If you can't answer enough questions, the MitID Support can't help you, and instead you have to visit Citizen Service to get help.
