Step 2 – Download and open the MitID app

Step 1 – Check your phone, your passport/ID card – and check if you need a P-code
Step 2 – Download and open the MitID app
Step 3 – Scan the passport/ID card's code, read the chip, and use face scan
Step 4 – Create user ID
Step 5 – Activate or order MitID

  1. Open Apple App Store or Google Play
  2. Search for “MitID”
  3. Select the MitID app from 'Digitaliseringsstyrelsen' (Agency for Digital Government)
  4. Press Download
  5. Wait for the MitID app to download on your phone or tablet
  6. Press Open to open MitID app 

  1. Open the MitID app
  2. Press Get started
  3. Press Next, where “Passport or ID card” is already chosen
  4. Read the 4 steps you must go through and press Next
  5. Accept the Teams and Condition by pressing Next
  6. Read the privacy Policy and press Next
  7. Press 'Different country' to select where your passport/ID card is from, and press Next
  8. Now choose whether you have a Danish CPR number or whether you must enter the P-code (if you do not have a Danish CPR number). See here how to get a P-code
  9. Enter either CPR number or P-code
  10. Press Next to proceed to the steps to confirm your identity
  11. Choose whether you have a passport or ID card

Please note that this guide applies to foreign passports/international ID cards. If you have a Danish, Faroese or Greenlandic passport, you must use this guide.

Go to Step 3 – Scan the passport/ID card code, read the chip, and use face scan
