Step 5 - Activate or order MitID

1. Choose On this phone on the screen 'How do you want to approve with MitID?'.
2. Enter the temporary PIN code, which will now be sent via SMS.
3. Look away while the person you are helping selects and enters their own personal PIN code twice. It's important to remember the code, as it will be used every time they need to approve something with their MitID app.
4. The person you are helping can now choose to use fingerprint or face recognition.
5. The person you are helping must now accept notifications to receive important messages about MitID.
6. Look away while the person you are helping sees their user ID in the app on the last step.
7. Press Next – the MitID app is now activated.

If the person you are helping already has a MitID but wants to have a backup MitID on an extra phone or tablet, choose this option.

1. Download the MitID app on the other phone/tablet you want the app installed on.
2. Take the phone you used to scan the passport.
3. Select App on another phone/tablet on the screen 'How do you want to approve with MitID?'. Press Next.
4. Press Show QR code on the screen 'Activate new app with QR code'.
5. You will now see a QR code that you need to scan with the other phone/tablet to copy the MitID app. The QR code is valid for three minutes.
6. Open the MitID app on the other phone/tablet you want to install the app on.
7. Press Get started on the screen 'Activate your MitID'.
8. Select Copy from another MitID app. Press Next.
9. Mark the field QR code is shown on the old app and press Scan QR code.
10. Scan the QR code by holding the phone/tablet up to the QR code on your old app. Hold the phone's screen towards yourself, so the MitID app uses the phone's camera to scan the QR code.
11. Look away while the person you are helping comes up with and enters a user ID. You are not allowed to know the person's user ID. Then press Next.
12. Enter the temporary PIN code that now comes in an SMS.
13. Press Next on the screen 'Choose your personal PIN code'.
14. Look away while the person you are helping creates their personal PIN code. Press Next.
15. Look away while the person you are helping repeats their personal PIN code. Press Next.
16. The person you are helping can now choose to use biometrics (fingerprint or facial recognition).
17. The person you are helping must now accept notifications to receive important messages about MitID.
18. This app is now activated and ready to use. Press OK.

The MitID app on the phone you used to scan the passport is still active. If you no longer want to use it, you can delete it.

If the person you are helping wants, for example, a MitID code display, choose this option.

1. Select Code display, code reader or chip on the 'How do you want to approve with MitID?' screen. Press Next.
2. Scroll down and press, for example, Select Code display on the screen 'What do you want to activate/order?'.
3. On the next screen, you will be asked if the person you're helping already has a code display. Press No, order a code display.
4. You will now see a screen with your user ID and an activation code. Note down the activation code and press Continue on MitID.dk.
5. Follow the steps on MitID.dk to order your MitID code display.
6. Activate the MitID code display when the person you're helping receives it in the mail. The accompanying letter will explain how to do this.
